Bembridge

Isle of Wight

Old postcards are sometimes poorly produced and grainy, I've done my best to scan them. Please click thumbnails for full size picture. Dates are from the card or my estimate (where possible). The maker of the card is shown in brackets (where available).

Bembridge was until the early 19th century a collection of huts and farm houses, but gradually developed into a thriving village. The original church was built in 1827, but due to instability it was rebuilt in 1846. It has a tidal harbour, used by yachtsmen and is home of one of the two RLNI lifeboats on the Island (the other being at Yarmouth)
