Bembridge was until the early 19th century a collection of huts and farm houses, but gradually developed into a thriving village. The original church was built in 1827, but due to instability it was rebuilt in 1846. It has a tidal harbour, used by yachtsmen and is home of one of the two RLNI lifeboats on the Island (the other being at Yarmouth)


This card has the caption 'Linchens, Bembridge and shows the view across the harbour from St Helens with the railway embankment left centre. (Ideal)	A more recent (probably 1970's) view of Bembridge looking across the harbour from St.Helens.
